ACA to have booth at 2008 Pride Festival
May 11, 2008
ACA will have a booth at the 2008 Gay & Lesbian Pride Festival. The festival is part of our greater community and ACA has had a presence there for a number of years. It's a great way to educate people as to what atheism is and interact with the public on a personal level.
The festival will be June 14th from noon to 7pm at Auditorium Shores (map). We will need volunteers to staff the event. Specifically, we'll have three shifts and we'll need 2-4 volunteers for each shift. The shift times are:
If you are able to volunteer, contact Don Baker with your preferred shift and your contact information (both phone and e-mail). He'll be in contact with you concerning logistics.
- First Shift: 11:30am - 2:00pm (includes booth setup)
- Second Shift: 2:00pm - 5:00pm
- Third Shift: 5:00pm - 7:30pm (includes booth tear-down)
If you're not able to volunteer, consider coming to the festival, checking out the music, offering moral support to the ACA folks, and seeing what other community groups are there.
From the officers:
The ACA Lecture Series returns Sunday, March 9th with Vic Cornell giving us an update on ACLU activities. The lecture starts at 12:15pm at the Austin History Center, 9th and Guadalupe. The building opens at noon.
