ACA has had the honor of hosting some very interesting speakers at our monthly lectures, among them Nobel laureate Steven Weinberg. Our lectures are held the first Sunday of every month. For years they took place at Furr's Cafeteria in Northcross Mall, but when the cafeteria closed for good in January 2003, they were moved to the Austin History Center downtown at Guadalupe and 9th. Below are scenes from a lecture on evolution by John Koonz, a middle school science teacher. John, who was for a time ACA's chairman, has championed the teaching of science vs. creationism in the public schools. He has since moved but he had a very strong influence on ACA's formative years.
